Tree of Knowledge
My partner and I have a small, south facing sloping field of about an acre that we'd like to return to it's former use as a traditional orchard.
It's currently very, very overgrown and we plan on putting some pigs in to clear it prior to planting. Any advice on what to plant, variety, size etc and whether there's any grant funding available would be very much appreciated.
It is a registered small-holding of 10 acres in total. We'd like a mixture of apples, pears, cherries, plums etc if possible.
Read the AnswerI planted a Cox's Orange Pippin in my back garden 5 years ago. It has never seemed to thrive and produces very poor apples.
