Listener A weak growing spreading tree, not very tall. Annual bearer, some years better than others. Very susceptible to scab. Flowering period - 1/2 30th April. Blossom – pale pink. Cropping - variable Shape – oblate, ribbed. Medium size Skin – smooth, waxy, yellow/green, no flush, no russet Flesh – crisp and creamy when just off the tree, then dry and woolly. Yellowish in colour. Flavour – tangy to begin with then sweet, banana flavour. Can sometimes be bitter, particularly the skin. Aroma - none Dessert – acceptable just off the tree, too much like cotton wool after a few days. Culinary – N/A Juice – surprisingly pleasant when made just off the tree, becomes very sweet later. Cider – used for early cider ready by Christmas, probably quite light

Pear Apple Medium height, upright, moderate growth. Pest and disease resistance – some scab Flowering period 1/2 early, late April Blossom – pale pink with darker outer petals Cropping – moderate, often biannual Shape – Reverse pear, long, large. Skin – Dry becoming waxy very quickly. Yellow/ green colour with small grey lenticels. Russet on stem or eye only. Flush, usually a trace, diffuse pink/orange. Flesh – Crisp and tender, creamy. Yellowish colour, skin tough/chewy and bitter Flavour – sweet, fruity with a tang when just ripe. Aroma – pear scented, fruity. Dessert – sweet, goes woolly quickly. Culinary – N/A (cooks to a pale yellow fluff, good for baking.) Juice – pleasant (best made just after picking) sweet if made after some storage. Yellow in colour, slightly scented. Cider – light, useful with other early apples.

Plum Vite A tall, spreading and vigorous tree. Annual bearer,prone to canker. Flowering period 1/2, early May. Pale pink blossom with darker pink buds. Good crop size. Shape - medium size, round, cylindrical. Skin - smooth, yellow/green colour with large grey lenticels. Russet mainly stem area, but occasionally spreading. Flush usual, pink/orange, diffuse. Flesh - soft, fine texture, white in colour and very juicy. Dessert. Flavour –sweet and vinous, thin. Juice. Flavour – sharp/tangy, citrusy, refreshing, thin. Probably needs a good, hot summer to be fully appreciated. Cider Useful as an early sharp cider.
